You know those roads you drive on and they just give you the creeps? Like, an unease comes over you that just makes you want to get off of it as fast as you can? Whether it's because they're twisty and windy in a way that makes you feel unsafe, so dark a desolate it almost makes you feel like you're seeing things (like the 'SOS' on your home screen, that's real reassuring, lol), the chills just come over you and you definitely hope you never get stranded there.

With Spooky Season well underway and Halloween coming up, the ghouls and goblins at SIXT, a leading travel magazine, researched Google Trends and TikTok to find out where the scariest, most dreaded drives are in America.
Landing inside the Top 15 at #13 is Sweet Hollow Road, located in Melville, New York in Suffolk County.

How did Sweet Hollow Road end up with such an unenviable distinction?
Well, Sweet Hollow Road is reportedly considered a paranormal, haunted hot spot after a litany of tragedies occurring on it over the years including a school bus accident, the shooting and killing of a local police officer, and the perpetuating tale of a ghost woman named 'Mary'.
I've never had the misfortune of driving Sweet Hollow Road, not yet anyway, but I can just tell by the way it curves, how the trees bend over it, and the lack of lighting that I would go out of my way to avoid it, lol.
In case you're wondering what THE #1 most haunted road in the United States is, SIXT found that to be Clinton Road just over the border in New Jersey in W. Milford.

It's a road that once the sun goes down 'fades into darkness' welcoming eerie phenomena. Clinton Road is rumored to have ghost children, a phantom truck that continuously drives off the road, and mysterious light flickering in the woods, NONE of which I ever prefer to witness personally. DETOUR, PLEASE!
