All Steven Spielberg needed was a Grammy to become a member of the exclusive EGOT club.....and last night he won! He already had an Emmy, Oscar and Tony....but with his victory last night, he officially joins the group!  As of February 1, 2026, there are 22 people who have achieved competitive EGOT status (winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). Spielberg became the 22nd member after winning a Grammy for  Best Music film for his documentary about John Williams. BTW some of the 22 are Elton John, John Legend, Jennifer Hudson and Alan Menken who was born in New Rochelle! EGOT has been referred to as the "grand slam" of American show business. Incidentally, John Williams' son Joseph is the lead singer of TOTO and Cyndi Lauper told me she really wants an Oscar to complete her quest for EGOT status! Now she just needs to write an Oscar-worthy song and she'll be in the club!
