Tis the season for wracking your brain trying to figure out what to get those special people in your life for Christmas. But if you're worried that the easiest gift to give will brand you thoughtless and tacky think again!
I'm talking about CASH.
You might think giving cash as a Christmas gift to someone will leave them wondering why you think so little of them that you couldn't even take the time to pick out a present. You might even get anxiety the giftee will think you don't know them well enough to get them something more personal. Well, stop overthinking!
Not only is giving money the opposite of "tacky" or "thoughtless", but a new survey by the news site Vox.com found that nearly 40% of people say cash is KING when it comes to presents. It turns out that people love the practicality of the almighty dollar as a gift.

Why?
Cash makes a great Christmas gift because it offers flexibility, allowing recipients to buy EXACTLY what they want or need. For the giver, it eliminates the guesswork of picking out presents. Additionally, cash can be used for special experiences or saving for future needs.
But while giving cash will actually help you win Christmas this year, gift it in a more creative way than just stuffing bills in an envelope.
Print out a photo of the giftee's favorite band with a note that says you hope maybe they'll use it to enjoy a concert they want to check out.
For a couple bucks I thrifted for an old brief case and strategically placed the money on the inside all fanned out. Another time, I got a small Christmas tree and paperclipped dollar bills all over it.

But my favorite time I gave cash as a gift was when I repurposed a pizza box and arranged the money inside like the pieces of a pizza.
Other ideas include taping the money to a silk eye mask with a note that says you hope they put the cash towards a spa day. Or to a can of beer for the next time the person hits a bar or liquor store. 'This round's on me!'
Don't want to come across as 'tacky" by ASKING for cash this Christmas? Don't be so shy. Explain to the potential gift-giver why cash would help you out this year.
