While data shows that the majority of car thefts in The Big Apple are committed by strangers, a portion of the victims actually know the robber. Even worse, nearly 25 percent know the thief intimately.
Ya see, Compare the Market found that reportedly 23 percent of vehicles lifted in New York City are stolen by the owner's ex!

That's the third-highest rate in the country behind Minnesota and Delaware and tied with Oregon.
