The 179th Dutchess County Fair commences on Tuesday, Aug. 19, and partaking in the fair food is generally a necessity for annual fairgoers.

The Dutchess County Dairy Committee's milkshakes, located in the 4-H booth, stole the show with nearly half the votes.

• Dutchess County Dairy Committee Milkshake (4-H booth)— 47.2%
• The fair classics: funnel cake, cotton candy, lemonade, corn dogs, fried dough — 20.8%
• Other — 16.8%
• Janeks Polish Foods: Pierogi Bar — 13.6%
• Self-proclaimed pickle enthusiast: all the pickle-flavored foods and drinks — 1.6%

• Another 16.8% of the votes went to the write-in option as well, and according to the results, the most common answer people wrote was some form of sausage, peppers and onions.
