An 8-year-old boy ordered 69,000 lollipops for home delivery — and his mother discovered the purchase after it was too late.
“I lost my mind,” Holly LaFavers, whose son Liam ordered the candy on Amazon, tells TODAY.com in an interview.
On May 3, LaFavers was cooking breakfast at home in Kentucky for her 8-year-old son Liam, while he used her phone to browse Amazon.
According to LaFavers, Liam “hyperfixates” on his areas of interest — which right now is throwing a carnival for his friends.
“He creates games with balls and buckets,” says LaFavers. “It’s a new skill for him to do that, so I’m not discouraging it.” LaFavers says Liam strategically visits websites like Pinterest for design inspiration and enjoys adding items to her Amazon cart, which LaFavers later deletes.
While on Amazon, Liam decided that lollipops would be a great carnival prize for his friends. He accidentally placed 30 orders of Dum Dums lollipops (amounting to 69,00 pieces). The cost: $4,200, including taxes.
The next day, LaFavers discovered the order.
