As this brand-new, critical care tower begins to rise in the faces of some very special onlookers: the kids being treated at the nearby Maria Fareri Children's Hospital. The little patients witness to creation come to life day in and day out. It's a process that hasn't gone unnoticed by the workers building it.

The crew from Iron Workers NYC 40361 found a way to reach out to their young audience in a way that lifted their spirits and that of staff and parents. They've written messages of encouragement on the steel beams creating the frame of the new structure. See what they wrote out for the kids at Maria Fareri in the photos below!

How sweet is THAT? It just goes to show that even though the construction workers are busy and just outside doing their job, it's not lost on them that there are some very sick children just waiting to get better so they can go outside and play again. Surely, while going through treatment, the kids can feel detached from the outside world but these messages let them know they're not.

Scheduled to open in 2026, Westchester Medical Center's 162,000 square-foot, five story Brenda Fareri Pavilion will reportedly boast 128 private, state-of-the-art, intensive care patient rooms.
