Hey kids, Rob Olson here, I’m glad to be a part of the WHUD on-air team!
From an early age, I was drawn to the radio listening to the voice of Kansas Jayhawks announcer Bob Davis. Jayhawks huh? But NY is home of the Knicks!? Although to clarify, I have to say that I WAS a Knicks fan during the John Starks/Patrick Ewing era.
I originally hail from Southeast Kansas and certainly don’t need to be reminded I’m not in Kansas anymore J. I got my start at the age of 12 running a mobile DJ service for wedding receptions, dances, parties and holiday events. Over the past 30 years in radio, I worked for such stations as KKOY FM (105.5), KINZ (95.3), KIKS (101.5) and KIOL (1370 AM). I was able to experience multiple genres at these stations including Adult Contemporary, Top 40, Oldies, Classic Rock, Country, Hard Rock and Alternative holding various roles including On Air Personality, Broadcaster, and Program/Music Director. I also thoroughly enjoyed being a Play-By-Play Announcer for high school baseball, basketball and football as sports are close to my heart.
When I’m not bringing you one great song after another on 100.7 WHUD, I can be found engrossed in watching my beloved Jayhawks or Kansas City Chiefs work their magic on the court and field. When the action gets intense, I can’t help but belt out some play by play where my lady says I have been known to sound like a combination of Bob Uecker, Bob Davis and Gandalf insisting “thou shall not pass” my boys on the field…but I like to think I sound like Kevin Harlan.
All kidding aside, I am very grateful to be part of the Westchester and the Hudson Valley’s Music Station. Thank you for listening!
