Mike Bennett is a radio veteran who has spent his entire 48 year career on the air in Westchester and the Hudson Valley. After graduating from Announcer Training Studios in Manhattan, Mike embarked on a broadcasting journey from sales to news and now disc jockey on the number one rated morning show in the region, “Mike & Kacey In The Morning” on 100.7, WHUD. In 28 years as News Director, Mike was honored numerous times by the Associated Press for his reporting skills and coverage of breaking news. In August 2014 was named one of the co-hosts of “America Weekend”, syndicated nationally by Envision Radio.
Along the way he’s emceed numerous celebrity charity events with Bernie Williams, Dominic Chianese, Darlene Rodriguez, Michael Bolton, Mary and Carol Higgins Clark, John McEnroe and David Cone to name a few. He’s hosted events at venues such as Madison Square Garden and Mickey Mantle’s Restaurant in NYC, The Matrix complex in Danbury CT, Empire City Casino in Yonkers NY and Eisenhower Hall Theater at West Point.
Mike has been honored by Westchester Medical Center, The Paramount Center for the Arts, Dominican Sisters Family Health Service, The Jimmy Foundation, The Daughters of the American Revolution, Hudson Valley Magazine and the New York State Broadcaster’s Association. He’s also actively involved with many not-for profit organizations including Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, Hillside Food Outreach, Hope For Youth Foundation, Woodbury Community Association, Ronald McDonald House of the Hudson Valley and the Red Tie Society of the American Heart Association, of which Mike is a founding member & honorary chairman. Mike is a 2012 recipient of the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Mike has also been a guest lecturer at the Middletown campus of Orange County Community College and at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh. In 2018 Mike was named a Hudson Valley Icon by Museum Village in Monroe.
Donald Trump calls Mike “The Voice of the Hudson Valley” and that voice has been heard on numerous ad campaigns for many WHUD sponsors including Frontier, Allstate, RhinoShield, Levity Live Comedy Club, Mahoney Asset Management, Westchester Medical Center, Cabrini Eldercare, Jonathan Green Lawn Care Products, Ramapo Joint & Spine, St. John’s Riverside Hospital, Westchester Modular Homes, Vermont Teddy Bear, PajamaGram and Masci & Hale Dentistry. Mike has also voiced internet videos for Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx and SABO wastewater treatment in Newburgh NY. Mike was cast as the “Voice of God” in the Westchester Broadway Theater’s production of “Altar Boyz” in 2011, appeared in “The Producers” and in 2015 in “The Christmas Shoppe” with Alan Thicke on stage at Ike Hall and has twice read “The Night Before Christmas” with the Boston Pops! Mike’s voice is also featured as the stage announcer at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
In March of 2020 Mike became the on-air spokesman for Orange Bank & Trust. In December 2013, Mike’s first book “Don’t Pay The Ransom, I’ve Escaped”: Memories Of A life On The Radio was published. It’s available at Amazon.com.
For three years he hosted the cable TV show, “Mike Bennett: On The Road” which won a TELLY award for “Outstanding Regional Entertainment Program”. Guests on the show included Trump, Eli Manning, Joe Torre, Kevin Bacon, Rudy Giuliani, Seal, John Pinette, Paul Teutul Sr and Joan Lunden. Mike has been married to wife Mary Ellen since 1976. They have three children, Courtney, Michael and Matthew. And seven grandchildren, Vivienne, Harrison, Estella, Theodore, Sinclaire, Charlotte and Keira.
