Meet the WHUD DJs – Jay Verzi

The job of being in radio has been a dream of mine since childhood. I have countless number of tapes of my pretend radio shows I did from my bedroom. Almost all of my childhood friends have co-hosted a program or two with me.

I first entered radio at the age of 18 after working a four month stint as a bagger at a local supermarket. My first radio job was at WBNR and sister station WSPK while working towards my Associates in Communications at Dutchess Community College. I left WBNR in 1992 to pursue a Bachelors degree in Communications at SUNY New Paltz and started working for WRWD in Poughkeepsie. In 2000 I returned to WBNR/WLNA to produce the morning show “Good Morning Hudson Valley” and a door opened for me to do weekend work for sister station WHUD! It was a dream come true to be able to work at WHUD!

I also worked as a Production Assistant for 1010 Wins and was an Assistant Producer for 1050 ESPN radio in New York City. I want to continue to work and grow in the radio industry and I hope it all works out or I will be hosting shows in my bedroom again. I currently live in Dutchess County with my wife Marianne and fish Bubbles.
