Sunday June 28th Bethel Woods presents Melissa Etheridge and Wynonna Judd together in concert....2 great performers on one night!

When I talked to Melissa (and I'm scheduled to talk to Wynonna soon) I told her how their "Raised on Radio" was my favorite tour name of all time!

Melissa loves it too but says she didn't come up with the name but will happily take credit LOL

I met her a few years ago and was really impressed but her friendliness and sincerity. I told her how my nephew, Billy, told me about her music before she was a worldwide sensation! One of the few performers with not only a Grammy but an Oscar too!

Despite collecting plenty of hits and mounting a late comeback, defensive miscues and a rough sixth inning on the mound proved costly for Hudson Valley.

Jersey Shore struck first in the top of the third inning when Luis Caicuto lifted a sacrifice fly to score a run and give the BlueClaws a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Joel Dragoo delivered an RBI single to extend the advantage to 2-0.

The Renegades answered in dramatic fashion in the bottom half of the inning. With the bases loaded, Wilson Rodriguez launched a grand slam to put Hudson Valley ahead 4-2. The blast was Rodriguez's fourth home run of the season and highlighted a four-run third inning for the Renegades.

The BlueClaws cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Tyler Pettroni grounded out, allowing Josh Moylan to score from third and make it 4-3. Hudson Valley responded in the bottom of the inning as Kaden Kent drove in a run with an RBI single, pushing the Renegades' lead to 5-3.

Hudson Valley starter Allen Facundo (3.69 ERA) turned in a solid outing, pitching five innings while allowing three hits, three runs, and just one earned run. However, the game changed in the sixth after Jack Sokol came on in relief. Sokol allowed three hits and four earned runs in one inning of work as Jersey Shore erased the deficit and surged ahead.

Nick Biddison delivered the biggest hit of the inning with a two-run triple, giving the BlueClaws a 6-5 lead. Caicuto followed with his second sacrifice fly of the night to extend the advantage to 7-5.

Luis Velasquez helped stabilize the Renegades bullpen by tossing a scoreless seventh inning, while Bryce Warrecker followed with a perfect eighth. Hudson Valley cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the seventh when Kyle West drove in a run with an RBI single, making it 7-6.

Jersey Shore added an important insurance run in the ninth inning when Nikau Pouaka-Grego singled home a run to stretch the lead to 8-6.
The Renegades refused to go quietly in the bottom of the ninth. Down to their final out, Rodriguez ripped a triple into right field.

Emmanuel Tejeda followed with an RBI single, bringing Hudson Valley within one run at 8-7. The comeback attempt ultimately fell short as the BlueClaws secured the victory.

Hudson Valley's defense also struggled at key moments, committing two errors that contributed to two unearned runs.

For the BlueClaws, starter Luke Gabrysh (4.54 ERA) earned the win after allowing five runs on nine hits across five innings. Brandon Beckel followed with two innings of relief, surrendering one earned run, while Jose Pena Jr. tossed a scoreless eighth inning. Wen-Hui Pan recorded the save despite allowing a run in the ninth.

Rodriguez finished as the offensive star for Hudson Valley, going deep with a grand slam and adding a triple in the ninth. Biddison led the Jersey Shore's offense, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including the go-ahead triple in the sixth inning.

There was a celebrity sighting in Cornwall-on-Hudson on Friday night. Actress Nell Fisher, who played Holly Wheeler in a pivotal role on Netflix's 'Stranger Things' during Season 5, was dining at a local tavern right here in The Hudson Valley.

(L: Sadie Sink as Max on 'Stranger Things'; R: Nell Fisher as Holly on 'Stranger Things'/21 Laps Entertainment/Monkey Massacre/Netflix via iMDb)

According to News12 Westchester, Fisher was grabbing some food with her family at Painter's Tavern on Hudson Street. She reportedly granted photos to a few fans who recognized her, including New Windsor's Eva Lopez (seen below).

STAR SIGHTING: A New Windsor family says they spotted Holly Wheeler from Netflix’s “Stranger Things” — actress Nell Fisher — at Painter’s Tavern in Cornwall over the weekend.

I'm just as curious as you are what brought Fisher to the area and if it has anything to do with a new acting project, but she certainly picked a great place to dine! Painter's Tavern is right up her alley as an artistic type.

Here's all you need to know about Tim Smith, who assists all our salespeople every day in every way! And Time loves bananas...eating several a day. At some point he may turn into a pile of potassium!

But Tim has a great personality and doesn't get rattled by the pressure. And to be sure of that, I got him a banana shaped stress reliever!

I already have another one on order figuring he might wear this one out pretty quickly!

Rye's Playland Park Reopens with Upgrades to Famous Coaster!

Find out how the Dragon coaster, feat. in Mariah Carey's 'Fantasy' video, has changed for the Summer of 2026.

Last summer, I hauled my cookies to Coney Island for two reasons. One, I'd never been there. Two, I wanted to ride the roller coaster I'd seen Mariah Carey ride on her famous 'Fantasy' music video. I accomplished my goal, so I thought.

I road the Cyclone roller coaster three times. Except I found out a short time later I was woefully misguided. I had gone to the WRONG amusement park and road the WRONG roller coaster.

I know having only lived in The Hudson Valley for 18 months or so still makes me a newbie, but how did I not realize that THIS is where Mariah actually filmed and directed the 'Fantasy' video? It wasn't Coney Island and it wasn't the Cyclone. It was the then Rye Playland and it was The Dragon roller coaster! It was nearly in my own back yard all along.

I will right that wrong this summer. The Dragon at Playland Park, and all its other rides, are officially back in action for its 98th season. Playland Park in Rye, Westchester County, has just reopened to the public for its 2026 season and it's reportedly undergone a $150 million makeover, according to News 12 Westchester.

One of the biggest upgrades is The Dragon roller coaster. According to Playland Park's official Instagram, The Dragon's got a new look with new fangs that are bigger, sharper, and more vicious than ever!

I'm like many of you who have to visit a cemetery to visit mom. The Cemetery of the Highlands on Rt 32 in Highland Mills is where my mother is buried. Ellen Bennett Kantrowitz lived a long, wonderful life and for years was our only parent after my father's sudden death and when she remarried years later. An amazing woman who sold Avon products and was a Cub Scout leader (I was the Den Chief)

I also visited the Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor and the grave of my beloved mother-in-law Mary McGraw Bell who was my biggest fan.

I miss them both every day and Mother's Day is a poignant reminder of how much they meant to me and why I try to honor their memory by enjoying my life and being thankful to have such great memories of both Ellen and Mary. I'd love to hear your comments, email mike@whud.com

That's where Window Nation comes in...I'm gotten to know them and invited then to my home for a demo....demonstration...not demolition. at least not yet!

With their current buy 4 get 4 free offer...I couldn't refuse. Ian came to Beacon from his Westchester office and is willing to come to your place if you need replacement windows like I do.

He brought a heat lamp and a gadget to measure potential heat loss and he showed us a window with all the great features including those bendable screens that were featured on Shark Tank a few years ago!

I'll keep you updated on our window project!

Just got off the phone with Cedric The Entertainer and he'll be my special guest on Monday morning on 100.7 WHUD!

Cedric is a busy guy to say the least....he's starring in a Broadway play until July...he's one of the voices in the new animated movie "Swapped", his new BBQ book with his buddy Anthony Anderson comes out Tuesday and his long-running CBS series "the Neighborhood" just finished an 8 year run! I'm exhausted just typing all these accomplishments!

And still had time to chat with me about all of the that plus his decision early on to use the stage name Cedric The Entertainer...which has proved to be very accurate!

BTW I just ordered 4 copies of his BBQ book for my sons and son-in-law for Father's day!

The 750 acre property is operated by New York State and includes farm animals and community gardens. It's open every day from sunrise to sunset...and its free...you just drive in!

I highly recommend you take your family there and of course there are plenty of programs offered depending on the time of year.

Their website is simply: stonykill.org

Hyde Park Drive-In, The Sequel! Movie Theater on Track to Reopen

Nothing screams 'SUMMER!' quite like a visit to a drive-in movie theater. There's just something about the warm air, the snacks, and the brightness of a larger-than-life silver screen that just hits different.

So, it's exciting to hear that a once beloved drive-in theater, which showed classics like 'E.T.', 'Ferris Bueller', and 'Mean Girls' as well as current releases, is on track to reopen after being closed for the last three years.

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino confirmed the rumors in early April, stating, “It’s more than just a movie theater; it’s a piece of our local history and a summer tradition that we’ve all truly missed.”

The once Cohen Family-owned and operated Hyde Park Drive-In Theatre, which shut down in 2023 after 73 years, is reportedly on the mend.

(Google Maps)

The landmark is currently owned by National Park Service who has signed a lease with a new operator. The drive-in movie site, on Albany Post Road, is currently undergoing renovations to get it back up and running, according to NewYorkUpstate.com.

Not only will the theatre's projection and sound system be updated, but the concession stand is reportedly undergoing a makeover, too.

No exact date has been published as to when Hyde Park Drive-In Theatre might welcome outdoor moviegoers once again, but we're keeping our fingers crossed it'll be in time for summer and will certainly keep you posted about any updates.

The pandemic was a terrible time for all of us...many of us lost friends to Covid and many of us were isolated and kept apart from all but our closest family. I even had to work from home for a year.

During that time I started relying on drive-through windows to grab lunch because I was too scared to go inside any business. Even my health club was shuttered for weeks. I'm sure you have similar stories.

Then one Wednesday I decided to drive up to the window at the Dairy Queen in Wappingers Falls because I really liked their chicken strips ...to say nothing of their great ice cream treats that my grandkids crave!

When I ordered my lunch this friendly woman's voice came over the speaker....confident, informative and most of all friendly

Did I mention her voice was friendly? I needed friendly more than the food really. Always authentic without going overboard or trying too hard

When I got to the window, there was the manager Alex, dutifully wearing her government ordered facemask. We chatted...nothing earthshattering just small talk. It was so enjoyable given the sad state of my world at that time that I made it a regular visit. Every Wednesday...same order...same chit chat! I even wished Alex's mom a happy birthday on WHUD! Now years have gone by...the pandemic is long over (although some people are still catching it) and I don't go to Dairy Queen that often. But I did yesterday. And I recognized Alex's voice immediately. Not surprisingly she's still friendly....but even when I couldn't see it behind the Covid mask back then, I could just tell she was always smiling. Its not an exaggeration to say this young lady helped get me through the pandemic just by being herself .I'll never forget her kind voice and how she always asks about my wife and grandkids. Something good did come out of the Covid era...Alex, the Queen of Dairy Queen!

Jon told me if I watched the first episode, I'd be hooked and boy was he right. Since the new episodes aired on Sundays, I waited anxiously all week to see the latest half hour show. Yesterday was the season 1 finale, hopefully setting up season 2!

The all-star cast includes Jon, Laura Linney, Kevin Kline and Len Cariou from Blood Bloods! Aaron Tveit of Orange County also has a small role.

All of them are great as you would expect, but the standouts to me were two young actresses...Nell Verlaque and Elise Kibler!

I was unaware that she was working on this project until I played the first of her features the other morning. I didn't recognize the voice and asked who it was. I have to say I'm very impressed by her work. I thought you should know that interns at WHUD don't get coffee for the boss or perform mundane tasks like filing paperwork. They do actual professional production, scripts and voiceovers that are heard on a 50 thousand watt station! Oh and we pay them too!

Way to go Marin!

In what has become a great family tradition, my 15 member immediate family gathers each Easter at my son's house in Coxsackie NY.

We're joined there by additional family and friends and although the Easter egg hunt for the kids had to be moved indoors due to the rain...the little ones still had a blast trying to find the plastic eggs filled with goodies!

Part bedlam...part chaos...but all with the best intentions and being surrounded by family makes it all worthwhile!

I picked up the shrimp and veggies from Adams...and they always do a great job. Nothing goes to waste, that's for sure!

Be listening closer to the announcements in your local ShopRite store from April 12th through April 26th!

I recorded a special message urging shoppers to donate to Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley at the register when they check out.

Every dollar raised will help local children facing a life threatening illness and funding a wish for them & their families.

You'll hear my voice in over 20 ShopRite stores in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Ulster & Sullivan counties for that two week period!

That covers most of the vast listening area for 100.7 WHUD's 50 thousand watts of radio power!

Happy to do it...Make -A-Wish Hudson Valley is one of my charities of choice...I've actually witnesses the granting of two wishes and it's something I'll always remember! It's personal too as my nephew recently got his wish granted. So please consider supporting this combined fundraising effort by everyone at the Wish House in Tarrytown and all of the employees of ShopRite!

My friend Abe, a former Wish kid himself who now works for the local chapter says, "Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses...It's not a last wish, it's a lasting wish!"

My favorite part of my office workday after I get off the air, is spending time right next to Rick Zolzer with only a short divider between us!

While I dub my celebrity interviews or edit new ones...Rick keeps me entertained as he seemingly does 8 things at once...I can hear him answering emails via voice messaging...listening to a sports radio station, previewing the latest Bruno Mars album (great by the way), recording commercials for his clients and enjoying a "healthy" snack.

Recently I could hear him crunching away and I asked what was he eating...his answer was "Drizzilicious". I had him repeat the name.

Having never heard of the product (I know, late to the party) I asked about the ingredients. When he said mini rice cakes...I thought well I'll pass since I had never eaten a race cake in my entire life. But then he gave him to sample and I was instantly hooked!

A just had my 2nd box delivered to my front door...and I love all the flavors but my favorite is Smores...and birthday cake ...and cinnamon swirl.

I pried open the box because I had gone through the first box rather quickly and need my "Drizzilicious" "fix".

Disclaimer: I am not a paid endorser of this product and have not been compensated in any way. (But there's still time :)

Someone was busy this weekend hanging an American Flag on the wall as you enter our offices from the back door!

First thing I saw this morning as I entered the building at 4:20am and it stopped me in my tracks! This had been talked about but now it has finally come to fruition...and I love it. I'm sure it will still be on the wall long after the current staff moves on but for now, it's a perfect symbol to see first thing in the morning! Forever may she wave...or in this case, hang proudly!

Thanks to Congressman and West Point grad, Pat Ryan for the flag...which flew over the Capital in Washington DC
