The makers of Funko Pop! figures will be tossing millions of dollars’ worth of product into the trash. In its most recent earnings call, Funko revealed that it was overloaded with unsold figures and couldn’t afford to keep storing them. That means hundreds of thousands of collectibles – worth $30-36 million, the company says – will be thrown out to clear room. Funko has been in a financial crunch lately – its projections for 2023 have been reduced by 25 percent, and the company recently announced it would lay off 10 percent of its workforce.
