You clicked on me! Thanks!
OK, so you want to know more, well, let's see......I was born and raised in Yonkers, NY. I have been in broadcasting for so long that I almost forget when I started! The radio bug bit me while watching WKRP in Cincinnati while I was at Sacred Heart High School (in Yonkers) and it never left me!!
I pursued a degree in Radio and Television at Elizabeth Seton College, also in Yonkers. My family used to joke that it was the furthest my Dad would let me go to college! I've worked all over Westchester and the Hudson Valley and even at a Jazz station in Stamford, CT. Not much Billy Joel was played there, although I used to bug my boss about it all the time!! I've been here at WHUD since 1990. This has been the best radio home that anyone could ask for. So many people say to me "you sound like you're having so much fun" and "you all sound like you really like each other", well, yes I am and yes we do!! I've worked at other stations and the atmosphere has never been like this. We are a family, we all truly respect one another, we are friends. It's great to walk down the hall and be among people you really care about.
On the personal side, I have been married to the love of my life since 1985. John is a musician, he plays keyboards. We have been blessed with two beautiful boys, Johnny and Gregory.
John and I have two furry boys too! Our first is a cat named Betamax! He's the best feline on the planet! The latest addition to the house is our new kitty, TiVo. Now that Beta sleeps most of the time, TiVo has taken over the role of waking us up at 5am! It's actually 5:38am.....how DOES a cat tell time? Maybe Mike and Kacey could borrow him for the morning show.
My other true love is Billy Joel! What is it about him? His music speaks to me like no one else's ever has. Alright ,I admit it, I'm a Billy freak. Hey, it could be worse!
WHUD has truly allowed me to blossom. In 1998 I won the New York State Broadcasters award for outstanding commercial. It was something that I wrote and produced myself, so I was really proud of that. Then in 1999 I was nominated for Best Midday Show by the New York A.I.R. Awards and in 2000 I was nominated again for best commercial. It feels so great to be rewarded for work that comes straight from your heart!
I also did a show here a few years back called "Kids Oasis" and I am currently working on another radio project. Hopefully you'll hear that soon.
Thanks for listening! You've picked a great radio station!
Stay safe and God bless America!!
