Weekends - Pop Rewind
Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Connecticut when he was 9. After high school graduation, he attended the University of Connecticut, and worked on the campus radio station, that's when the announcing bug bit him. Ed's first job was in Bridgeport, CT and after a stint in the U.S. Army he became the morning man at a 50,000 Watt station in Sacramento CA. His show was number 1 in 18 counties. Then it was on to New York City and 12 years with the Good Guys at WMCA. That was followed by 6 years of country music on 1050AM WHN followed by 6 more years at NBC's FM station in New York WYNY. He was then summoned here to WHUD in 1986 when Joe O'Brien retired from the morning show - and for 14 years he woke up the Hudson Valley with the "The Ed Baer Affair." In March 2000, Ed decided that it was time to give up waking up at 3a.m. each morning and so "The Ed Baer Affair" came to an end on March 17, 2000. However Ed's involvement with WHUD has not ended. Ed can now be heard each and every Sunday morning from 7am to 9am with "Pop Rewind". It's Ed Baer's musical hit list, highlighting different years each week from the late 60's right through the 90's and the hit songs for the week that year!
Ed is married and his lovely wife Pearl, a real estate broker, gave him two wonderful children, Jeff and Susan - and now Jeff and his wife Denise have presented them with their first three grandchildren - Kyle, Ryan and Trevor
