The Con Edison Westchester Scholastic Sports Award Program recognizes the ‘Scholar Athlete of the Week’

This week’s winner of the Con Edison’s Westchester Scholar Athlete of the Week is Alexa Cole, a Senior on the Lakeland High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team. Alexa had a sensational week. In their last 4 games she has averaged 24.5 points and 9.25 rebounds. She scored 27 points and earned 12 rebounds against Peekskill, 21 points and 10 rebounds vs. Brewster, 25 points and 7 rebounds against Beacon and 25 points and 8 rebounds (in only two quarters) against Riverside. She was named Lohud player of the day after our win vs. Peekskill and was just voted Lohud Girls basketball Player of the Week.

Last season she earned All Section honors. The last two seasons she has led our team in points and rebounds. She is the type of athlete coaches wish they had on their team; a natural born leader, disciplined, resourceful and self-motivated with a passion for excellence that you just can’t teach kid.

Alexa is team captain for her Varsity Basketball team. She is also the captain of the AAU team. She Is a leader on and off the court. In the off season she helps to get the team together for off season conditioning and skills. In school she is a true student athlete and role model to her peers. She displays a great attitude on the court, in the classroom and her community.  Alexa is a volunteer member of Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK), the Elks Club Hoop Shot and Lakelands Girls Day in Sports. AN of her achievements show that she’s committed to her education and will work hard to achieve all of her goals
