On Saturday, June 3 the Westchester County American Legion gave 100.7 WHUD an award based on our Pledge of Allegiance program each weekday morning at 7:30. I accepted the award on behalf of those who really deserve the credit for this popular feature. Former GM Fred Bennett (no relation) had the original idea and current GM Jason Finkleberg and Program Director Steve Petrone put the plan into action. Our Promotions Director, Courtney Bennett (my daughter) and her assistant Jessica personally recorded each pledge at the individual schools in Westchester, Putnam, Orange and Rockland counties. Courtney also followed up with e-mails and phone calls to let the schools know when their classes would be on the air. Tom Ragone from our Production Department took the recordings and put them in our studio audio file. And webmaster Jay Gaulard keeps updating the Pledge schedule on-line at www.whud.com. A lot of teamwork goes into Mike & Kacey playing the Pledge every morning and we're all very proud of the award from the American Legion.
