Seasons are changing and, as a new homewner I don't know what to do with all the leaves on the lawn! Married life is fun. I even made a meatloaf the other night - It seemed like a wifely thing to do.
Right now my thoughts are filled with angel wings and shepherd suits as the 6th annual Children's Christmas Celebration in Verplanck has begun rehearsals. It's become a sweet tradition my sister and I pour our energy into each year. Local kids put on a free holiday show the Sunday before Christmas...and for the third year my Mike will don a Santa suit for sure.
Hoping things are well with you and yours - it's great to get your emails and keep in touch so please write! Kacey@whud.com
One of the coolest things I was part of recently was the Hudson Valley Hospital Center's Women's Symposium. The keynote speaker was Joan Anderson and she is just amazing. Find more about her and her books at www.joanandersononline.com
A Wonderful Life is opening soon at the Westchester Broadway Theatre - I'm looking forward to seeing that. www.broadwaytheatre.com

Keeping Warm...
November 11, 2008, 9:46 amCongratulations Kacey and Mike Grean!
September 30, 2008, 8:38 am
And so, I married Mike Grean on July 8th in Stephen and Doreen Cole's yard in Verplanck. The moment I dreamed of most was just as I wanted it to be; walking arm in arm in arm with my father's nephews, VS and Stephen Cole. At that moment, I knew just who I was and where I was going. Moments later, under the grapvine, standing with Mike and the minister, Patrick Perkins, I did have a slight, surreal freak out. "Ok", I thought, looking out over the small group of close friends and family, "What the heck is this? I'm getting married? ME? Hmmmm....There's not that many people her. If I just call them all tomorrow and tell them it was all a joke, they'd forget all about it." Then, as I listened to the vows, I began to let myself feel how happy I was to be marrying this wonderful man, and I all but levitated with joy. Truth is, I don't remember much after that. Everyone raved about the food from Cole's Market, people stayed and laughed until well after dark. My face hurt from smiling...but I couldn't give you a clear account of the evening. I was just humming.
I know I ate a lot of cake. Loren at B& L Deli made it and I smashed it up a bit when I took the corner at Broadway and it slid across my hatchback, but it was still goooood! The rental place forgot to bring the plates so the neighbors ran into their homes and brought out theirs. They looked perfect in all their mismatchedness. The next day we watched the Yankees win at The Stadium. We screamed when we saw "Congratualtions Kacey and Mike Grean" appear on the scoreboard. And we cried when we heard John Sterling announce our wedding on the radio...ya think it wouldn't be such a big deal to hear my name on the radio - but it was.
The party continued a days weeks later at Bird and Bottle ....and those pictures are coming soon...
along with much more.....

...and get me to the church on time!
June 25, 2008, 9:13 am
Hi Friends -
Mike Grean, my fiance, and I were walking down Main Street in Cold Spring the other day when Highland Baskets owner, Leonora, and her husband Tony shouted, " When's the wedding?"
"July 8th," I called back, and we erputed into an impromtu sidewalk chorus of "pull out the stopper, we'll have a popper - get me to the church on time!"
Among the sweet memories I'm collecting at this time I must include the students at Our Montessori School in Yorktown where I teach theatre art workshops. In my youngest group, the 5 and 6 year-olds, a girl declared, " I heard on the RADIO that you are getting MARRIED." I said, "Yes, I am. It's very exciting". With that, a little boy raises his hand. "Excuse me...Miss Kacey... if you have a wedding cake, and it's chocolate, could you save some for us?" I can't even TYPE that story without filling up with tears of joy.
It's been a roller coaster of feelings these past few months and through it all, there were only TWO things I was SURE of. One is, that I am marrying a wonderful man. Micheal Grean Jr. grew up in Rye working in two of his family's businesses; construction and cooking. If you remember the huge sign for the White Elephant piano bar, it is now hanging over my fireplace. Mike spent 15 years in California, most recently as a movie caterer for films like Walk the Line and Memoirs of a Geisha. A film job brought him back the beautiful East Coast where he was inspired to take of his apron, pick up a hammer and began Grean Contracting Inc.
I had signed up for a 3 month core training course with Loretta Reiley at Scivoletto
Chiropractic in Cortlandt. At each visist Loretta would say, "You should meet the man who is building my house." Finally, I said, "Give him my number!" She did. We had a blind date on July 9, 2006 at Riverview in Cold Spring. We are getting married on July 8, 2008.
The exchange of vows will be private, under the family grapevines on what would have been my father's birthday. That was just one of Mike's very good ideas.
The PARTY is July 19 at the Bird and Bottle Inn in Garrison.
I got my dress for that event at La Petite Boutique in Pleasantville. A few weeks ago, after driving my niece to voice lessons at the Lighthouse Theatre, my sister and I stopped in the shop known for the monochromatic window displays and started trying things on. I can't remember if it was Rosalee or Georgia, but one of the ladies there passed a simple satin slip dress over the swinging door of the dressing room. Just like when you meet THE guy - when you find THE dress, you KNOW!
We went back another day and got dresses for the rest of the party. My niece, Haley Jane is my Maid of Honor. Haley turns 16 the day after the wedding. My sister Maria, Haley's Mom, is the Matron of Honor. My flower girl and cousin, Kirstie Levine, is 38 and 8 months pregnant. I was her Mom's flower girl. Her Mom was my Mom's flower girl. There's a lot of love in this family tradition. Kirstie's son and daughter, Paige and Jake, will round out the bridal party as flower child and ring bearer.
A few years ago, I was spending a day with my nephews Nicky and Jake. The outspoken one said "When are you getting married? Ya, know... you're old enough." The quieter nephew spoke up. "JAKE! What are you talking about?! She can't just marry ANYBODY! I mean, what if she marries some GUY and then we find out he doesn't like KIDS??!" That was a defining moment in my single life. I knew then that if I never found "the one" I still had more love than I could ever ask for from these two young men. In the past 2 years Mike has built them a half pipe for their skate boarding, taken them golfing and signed on to coach both their hockey teams. When they visit, Mike fills the 'fridge with their favorite food. Sleep overs find they 3 of them up too late cracking up over silly movies. Jake and Nicky are Mike's Best Men. That handsome trio will be in Tux attire for the soiree on the 19th while the ladies will be a shimmering symphony of gold, champagne and cocoa - those are our colors. There will be accents of deep blues and purples as Robert from Cold Spring Gardens will adorn the tables with sweet bowls of grapes to carry over the theme from the setting of our vows.
Growing up I dreamed I'd marry a Giovanni Mastropoloabruzazi and HYPHENATE it with Morabito...but today, changing my name feels like a fun option. Mike is my family of choice. I'll celebrate that. Who I am is constantly changing, but I remain Mo's daughter, Maria's sister and now, Mike's wife. Kacey Grean. That's GREE ON - as in - the husband we can all agree on! Mike says I'm in for a lifeime of people calling me Kacey GREEN - but I'd don't mind going green or Grean.
Every since we announced my engagement on the air, I've been collecting notes, cards and e-mails I've received from YOU WHUD listeners in a red velvet hat box at home. That is the SECOND thing I was sure of from the start. When Mike and I exchange our marriage vows under the grapevines, that box will be with us. Mike has known since I met him that being part of the team that wakes up so much of Westchester and the Hudson Valley is one of my greatest joys. And the only reason I cut our dates short is for that 4:20 AM alarm clock, so I don't miss my daily date with you.
Thank You - for being part of this magical journey.
Love,
Kacey

Mo's Daughter
June 3, 2008, 8:58 am
Years ago, when people were beginning to recognize me from being on the radio, I was tickled... and a bit delusional. Too brief a pause at a Peekskill stop sign found me being pulled over by a kind officer. As he took my license back to his patrol car, my big, fat ego thought he'd come right back once he realized he pulled over "Kacey on the Radio". I was half right. He returned with a stern warning and then said, "Why didn't you tell me you were Mo's daughter?".
That officer did me two favors that day, not ticketing me was the lesser one. "Mo", Antonio Romolo Morabito, my Dad, had many friends from his days working at Standard Brands in Peekskill, and later from bartending at Bertoline's and Jeremiah's. Radio Schmadio! Around here I am - Mo's daughter - the child of a simple man who served his country in WWII and came back to raise his family. Anything I have is a gift of grace or a product of hard work. I am no greater or lesser than anyone else on Earth. I'm Mo's daughter, and that's a good thing to remember.
Dad passsed away on February 15. Since that day I've struggled to know who I am without him.
My life was energized by the joy he gave me.
The gifts he gave were the constant reassurance that he was there for me and wanted me to be happy. Dad was interested in my world. He always asked me about my Mike, my friends and my job. If I found something to complain about, Dad would tell me to forget it. No big discussion, just enjoy what life had to offer. I came to rely on his simple wisdom.
As Dad grew older and was living in Florida, we made sure the distance did not come between us. I'd call to ask about recipes I never intended to cook. When he came to New York I'd ask him to make meatballs even though I gave up beef years ago. Every time I stepped foot in Yankee Stadium, or if I just saw a game on TV - I called Dad. I'm not one to chase interviews, but I went out of my way to talk to Michael Kay and John Sterling, just so I could tell Dad I did. Dad would send me Yankee's kitchen magnets he made from wood and I'd call him to order more for my friends.
The day he died, I walked outside, I felt the sun and the breeze and saw the sky and the trees as if for the first time. I felt peace knowing that Dad was now part of all the energy that spins the planets and keeps the stars in place.
Then, the world became a foreign place.
I lost the person who could make sense of chaos, and the one person who told me he loved me every time we spoke. I lost the person who accepted me without judgement. I lost the conection to my heritage in Calabria... and I gained a deeper knowledge of my Dad.
He outlived 10 siblings, yet walked quietly through loss ever looking for life's pleasures.
As the recent prospect of back sugery terrified me, I remembered Dad had twice undergone heart surgeries and so many medical procedures in his 83 years. He always found his way back and did the best he could. He was stronger and braver than anyone around him gave him credit for. The world around him changed so much in his lifetime, and he kept growing too, in compassion and tolerance.
Of course, it wasn't long before I got ticked off. I let Dad know it through the constant coversations I have with him in my heart. He left me. He wasn't going to be at my wedding, and I gave him hell for that. Mike Grean and I got engaged in October. Dad took ill in November. He knew he was leaving me in good hands. Overwhelmed wth confusion, I canceled the wedding.
The next day, Tom Furci came into work selling raffle tickets for Jenna's Dream Choir, a group I happily support, but my $100 ticket purchase came with a string attached. As I wrote my check I told Dad that if I won, I would know he wanted me to have a wedding. I had to wait a week for the drawing to confirm the $10,000 jackpot, but I knew it was mine from the moment Tom handed me ticket #159. 159 is the house number of my Dad's childhood home, where I will be married there, under the grapevines on July 8th, Dad's birthday. He's winning ticket is paying for the family party July 19th at The Bird and Bottle.
My Dad was a chatter, if you saw in him the post office or grocery store, you were going to get a big smile and a story. Dad always made time to stop and talk to friendly faces along the way. He knew where to find the real joy, and, becuause of him, so do I.
I love you, Papa.

Surgery! Said the Doctor...
April 30, 2008, 8:40 am
Surgery! said the nurse. Surgery! said the lady with the alligator purse!
Well, as you may have been hearing - I've had some back issues.
What started as "a little tension" led to sciatica and eventually a herniated disc.
Now the doctor wants to operate - like yesterday, and I am doing my best to stay away from him with yoga, reiki, acupuncture, chiropractics AND a whole lot of faith and prayers.
It's AMAZING how many people have gone through the same thing!
Get the surgery! Don't Get the surgery! Get the shots! Complete strangers will stop and tell me their story when they see my back brace and cane. In a funny way, it gave me a medical education.
What isn't funny is the way I learned this lesson. I - the self proclaimed peaceful, healthy person - was in denial for months. It didn't have to come to this, but I kept pushing, going too fast in too many directions. When the universe wants you to SIT DOWN - it can really make its point clear.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!
And I will do the same -

Ten days before Christmas I bought a HOUSE - and now I spend my free time at do-it-yourself box stores! Mike is a great carpenter (and an amazing chef, how lucky am I
and he's being very patient with the long list of things to do he finds magneted to the refrigerator.

Isn't this a great shot?
My firend Maggie passed it on to me in cute e-mail.
I don't know where the picture orginated...but it makes me smile.
This time of year - I like to look up. Pink and periwinkle sunrises, fiery orange sunsets, black and starry skies, moonlight through the frosty tree branches - all the good stuff is up there. This December 14th is a good night to see a meteor shower too.
Thousands of years ago people looked up to see a bright star guiding them to the birth place of poor Jewish boy. That's just one of the miracles we remember this time of year.
Right now, 150 men are living at St. Christopher's Inn at Graymoor in Garrison fighting to beat their addictions. During the holidays, the number of men there will grow. It's tradition for Friars who run the Inn to give each man the gift of a new shirt on Christmas. Remember the feeling of getting something crisp and new on Christmas day? Want to give that feeling to someone else? Donations of new, dress, golf and casual shirts can be sent to Anthony Gallichio, Graymoor, Director of Development, PO Box 150, 21 Fransican Way, Garrison, NY 10524.
Miracles we may not see or hear about are happening every day.
You and I can be blessed to be part of them.

Enjoy the show....
Happy Channukah

Ups....and Downs....and Ups...
September 25, 2007, 10:09 am
"How do you get up so EARLY"? That's a question I hear often.
Actually - I love seeing the stars and enjoying the silence of early morning..
Leaving Berto and Bela?...THAT can be tough! And yes, they look this cute EVERY morning...
Reading Business Week recently I learned that Americans spent 41 billion dollars on pampering and outfitting our pets last year. 41 Billion Dollars. That's up 50% from a decade ago. Are our pets any happier? When Berto wears his pug sized NY Yankees #2 jersey - he's doing it just to please ME.
A walk in the woods - wearing only his collar and a smile would please HIM.
And...I know what you're thinking - Why was I reading Business Week?! Well...I was in the waiting room of Hudson Valley Hospital's radiology department awaiting my mamogram on the new digital machine. Liz was great and the process took all of 6 minutes. There has been a sharp decrease in the number of women getting mamograms. Why? Because there has been greater life expectancy for those diagnosed with breast cancer. Why? Because of early detection through mamography! Go. Ask your mom, sister, wife and friends to take care of themselves too. This is the season when we can support one another and walk for cure. Support Connection's Support -a-Walk is Sunday, September 30th at FRD State Park - www.supportconnection.org. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is Sunday, October 21 at Woodbury Common - www.cancer.org/stridesonline.
Thanks to everyone who came out to have some fun at E Restaurant and Lounge in Mount Kisco...we should do that more often....I think it's good for the soul.
The warm start to autumn has been inspiring! I'm making my reservations for the Great Jack O Latern Blaze in Croton - www.hudsonvalley.org. I hear it's so beautiful...
Speaking of beauty - from Eckhart Tolle's book The Power of Now - "Do not pollute your beautiful, radiant inner being nor the Earth with negativity. Do not give unhappiness in any form whatsoever a dwelling place in you."
Sounds like a plan.

VACATION!
August 29, 2007, 11:14 am
THIS is my favorite time of Summer - these final weeks when things get a bit s l o w e r....
I'm taking a week off to hike, golf, hit the gym, get a facial, a massage, sleep, read...rejunivate!
Then...when I get back - get ready to CELEBRATE!
Come to the After Work Party at E Restuarant and Lounge in Mount Kisco on September 13 from 5:30 - 7:30. Register to win at www.whud.com. When I first went to "E" a few weeks ago - I feel in love with the food and the atmosphere. I told the owner, Eddie, that I'd love to have a party there...and he said "Go Ahead!" So, here we go! Your friends and mine, meet, mingle and EAT! The bar is open for the first hour too...
Now, be sure to take sometime for YOURSELF these last luscious days of Summer... and Let's Go Yankees! Just got a new T-shirt that says "Meet Me at The Bat", get it? ;>
Cheers!

Boys of Summer....

A gorgeous pair! My nephew Matthew and My Mike. They have a great bond - Mike makes the best RIBS you've ever tasted - and Matt EATS them. It's a beautiful thing. We had some summer fun at Yankee Stadium on the 5th of July. I had never seen Mariano come out of the bullpen, walk across the field and up to the pitcher's mound in person before. Witnessing that, and a Yankee win, while standing next to my New York born brother and his Atlanta family? Perfect.
We've got more food and family fun on tap this weekend. The Feast of Mount Carmel in Verplanck, July 19 - 22. My father's father was among the group of Italian Immigrants who started this traditional Italian Street Fair 85 years ago. Working side by side in the wine, pasta and pastry booth with the Capicotti, Furfaro, Marafiotti and Albanese children and grandchildren, and dozens of other great families, is a tribute to the old world ways that shaped us. It's our way of saying Thank You. Grazia.
Go, make some summer memories!
And EAT something!
Mangia! Tutti!

Stacey Hawkins, brilliant and beautiful, is the Time Savor Gourmet.
I was a guest on her cooking show, filmed in her home on the Hudson. See the show June 7th at 6 PM on Time Warner Cable Channel 6 at 6 PM. We made heathly brownies - with prune baby food! Stuffed Talapia and a marinade for London Broil. Really! You'll love her spices and easy recipes at www.timesavorgourmet.comThe
Thanks Stacey! I've been living on oat cereal, green salad and rice pasta for years. Now, I'm dating Mike, who aside from being a fantastic carpenter, is an amazing chef! IF I ever knew anything about cooking, I forgot it the minute he turned on my burners. The first meal he made me last summer - chicken stuffed with eggplant and a mushroom risotto - made me and my DOG weep. Berto had never smelled delicious aromas like that in his little doggy life!
Oh - speaking of doggies - have you seen the video of Tara and Luke from Cold Spring? http://youtube.com/watch?v=9BUsfQQVyF4 (or just Google Youtube Luke and Tara) It may bring a happy tear to your eye too...
Have a Lovely and Delicious Summer!

Walking to work this morning...along the beach...through the trees...crescent moon over head...tree frogs, black birds and mourning doves in full symphony...surf softling rising and falling...taking in every sight and sound feeling every breeze..feeling fully every moment...
And now, sitting in our broadcast gazebo watching the ocean turn from grey to pink to turquoise as the sun ignites our last vacation day in Barbados....Can you feel my SMILE? It's all good...

First of all - I did NOT play Shady Lane Country Club yesterday - I played SANDY Lane.
I really need to pay more attention!
Today - I laughed myself silly. Pool Volley Ball - Men agains the women - the women had to pause to several times for various reasons - once to sing Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head. It wasn't raining. The women are claiming victory.
Sitting in the glorious open air lobbey now with ELaine and Tony, Barb and Sal, Jim and Cyd, Lisa and Mary, Dan and Sue, Nancy and Charlie...they are getting ready to say goodbye.
No doubt there will be tears. Truly...if I could have chosen traveling partners - I would have chosen this group - each one full of life and love and JOY.
Almond Resort in Barbados. We would come back.
Still another night and day to go...

WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!!!
Today we played Shady Lane Country Club - that's where the big boys play.
I am not a big boy.
Mike shot an 89 - he's awesome.
I shot 143 - and that doesn't count the 17th hole when I didn't get out of the cart.
Couldn't move.
This course is like a trip to the zoo - if the zoo was in a botanical garden and the garden was overlooking the ocean. It was so gorgeous it was distracting. THAT's why I kept lifting my head! FRANGIPANI that's the name of the flower the little white and yellow flowers that have five tiny outstreched arms....they were everywhere. The colors and the breeze and the FAIRWAYS! They were as lush and green as the outfield at Yankee Stadium.
It was round about the fourth hole I noticed the MONKEYS in the TREES! I bet they play better than I do!
Golf. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...
Now - it was Charlie and Nancy who went 4 wheeling yesterday - NOT Elaine and Tony - THEY went to an Almond sister resort with SUE AND DAN! Saw them for dinner last night seaside! ...Had pizza with Elaine and Tony this afternoon - I could talk to them forever.
Lisa, Mary, Joe and Debbie walked into town with Maryellen.
Sal and Barbara kept watch over Mike in the pool!
AND BY THE WAY!
It rained here for a while today.
I hope that makes you enjoy YOUR sunshine all the more.
Remind me to tell you about the skinny cats.

OK......
May 8, 2007, 5:05 pm
So...you know that "for you - about you" Almond Resort motto I was talking about yesterday?
Well, we decided to give it another go!
It's amazing...I missed so many COLORS yesterday....
Today on the golf course...my shoulders were much farther away from my ears...
My Mike is such an amazing coach...
And I noticed the flowers...hibiscus? Orange, yellow, red...
Saw a mongoose on the 7th hole!
Hit some gorgeous shots....did not hit the mongoose.
Later - under the tree, by the beach - I was in charge of watching the clouds.
I did a great job.
Did you know they come in SEVERAL shades of white?
Now here I am at happy hour cyber cafe and there are periwinkle flowers that were NOT here yesterday! Or were they?...my senses seem to be coming alive.
Speaking of coming alive! The WHUD beach gang found great pleasure in a frosty coconut drink....I'm not mentioning names....
Elaine went somewhere on a bus! She called to me as they pulled away - I think she said she and Tony were going 4 wheeling?! I have to find out more...
Charlie and Nancy were resting up after their night of dancing at the Habor Lights Party...
Barb and Sal are getting ready cheecks! I cannot tell you how...
And there are a few more people I have to check up on ...we are all getting together in minutes...for the Managers Cocktail Party by the Fountain in the Courtyard....
Next time...come with us!
And OH! celebrity sighting! - Rob - one of the winners from one of the Amazing Races is here...just checked in today....I haven't seen him...wouldn't know it if I did...but Mike is going to loose his mind.
He loves that show! Maybe we can get him on the air in the morning...
See you then..

For You...About You
May 7, 2007, 5:31 pm
The Almond Resort motto is For you, About you...we decided to try that out today -
After the radio show - we played 9 holes of golf and hit the pin on my second swing on the second hole: TINK! Love that sound...
After...it was lunch - mahi mahi and Ceasar's salad - and then...we found a tree...on the beach...and sat...with an Ipod full of Ella and the new Henry Beecher Ward biography in my lap: read, sleep, listen, swim, repeat.
Having done all that for several hours - we needed a real nap.
Refreshed - we're off to dinner.
Sun has set. Breezes are warm.

Greetings from Barbados!
May 6, 2007, 5:23 pm
Hey Mon -
Welcome to the Islands...sitting under a tree in the courtyard at Almond Resorts in Barbados sipping a vino by the water fountain....The flight was great - the Island is beautiful - but so far - what I love MOST is the PEOPLE!
Joe and Debbie WON their trip here! Debbie and I have a history of fun! When we saw Tony Bennett on the TODAY show together - she brought a poster of Matt Lauer in a bathing suit that she made from a photo she found in People magazine - Matt loved it!
AND... Aunt Barbara and Motorcyle Sal - friends that I don't get to see enough of - so glad they are here. Lisa and Mary are best friends since Kindergarten who see each other only 3 times a year - they are honoring their friendship and it's great to see them enjoying their time together! Cyd and Jim are
busdrivers and animals lovers and so much fun to talk to! Nancy is going to be hard to keep up with - she just moved back to NY from California - and she and Charlie were already in the ocean, pool and to the bar before I ever got my shorts on.
Poor Sue - her boss told her she had too many vacations day stored up - so she grabbed her husband Dan and came on down. They were the first to get into their room...ahhhh VACATION!
Elaine and Tony and the Mango Moose - that was the dessert we had at lunch - can't wait to see them at dinner!
Oh and there is a delicious beach - where we saw a glorious sunset...but to me - it's the people...that make the trip!
Mike and Maryellen Bennett are planing lots of excursions, you'll hear all about it....
Me and my Mike? We're thinking about ordering another vino and taking a stroll in the twilight.
WISH YOU WERE HERE.

Happy Spring!
My brilliant boyfriend Mike had the fabulous idea to visit Legends Field in Florida this pre season.
Yankee's broadcasters John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman were kind to let us see the game from their point of view. When I see you, ask me about how I "just missed" bumping into Johnny Damon and George Steinbrenner as each time I was looking the other way! Still, it was a thrill a minute - and the next time my Mike taps my shoulder and says "Kace...uh...Kace..." I will turn around immediately!
I am sorry I will miss the Dogs Walk for the American Cancer Society at Bear Mountain Park this year -I'll be on my way to Barbados on May 6. Tom Furci will be there with his pug - join him! www.cancer.org/nydogswalk.
While you're browsing, you may want to visit www.safeteendriver.org Actor Dean Cain made a movie about the true and moving story of Bruce Murakami - a father who forgave the teenage driver who killed Mrs. Murakami and their young daughter. If you have kids who drive - you may want to share it with them.
Graymoor at Garrison will present a play in May - The Jeweler's Shop - written by Pope John Paul the Second. Yes - the Pope wrote plays....I didn't know that. But I will get more information and let you know - or you can call the Spiritual Life Center at Graymoor 845-424-3671
Yes, I am getting ready for The Italian Feast in Verplanck! July 19 - 22. Italian - American Idol III is our annual singing competition Saturday night the July 21. Call me if you want to be part of it. 845 838 6027.
Did you ever think about accupuncture? I just finished a 5 week course at The Garrison - and haven't used my asthma inhaler yet - and that feels great! -So do Robin Queen's facials at Monteverde! Now I am ready to face spring.
Golfing, grilling, gardening and hiking - that's what's keeping me busy right now. Berto and Bela are happy too. I wish to invent a car that runs on pet hair.
Blessing to you and yours - and Enjoy the Spring Sunshine...

Happy New Year.....
December 30, 2006, 2:13 pm
So here we are...starting another year...
I'm not a record keeper...are you? I don't know how many years I've worked in radio or what I did last month...I don't keep track of my life...anything that feels like a long time - I call 7 years.
Sure! I lived there for 7 years...yep, we did that every year for... 7 years...whatever the thing was, if it feels like a long time - or a long time ago - 7 years covers it.
Thank you God for giving me friends who keep accounts. I call friends who remind me what year I went on a cruise...what year I had a sports car.... I'm just learning to tell my check book the specifics. I realize now that some things need to be detailed....
So - it's New Year's Eve eve and people are counting things and making lists.
I'm just counting my blessing...you? Actually - when other people make resolutions...I make picutres in my head...pictures of what I want the year to look like. I see picutres of my house filled with friends and family...I see beaches and mountains and places to explore... I see children to inspire...and I pray for a place to be used for a greater good. I also see myself doing homework. I'm thinking of taking a course or two...I don't know in WHAT yet...I'll have to get more specific eventually...
Here's what I KNOW I WON'T be doing in the New Year...and that's MOVING the day I take a red eye flight back from LA nine days before Christmas and then hosting a holiday party 5 days later! I just had a marathon few weeks - and truth be told - I wouldn't change it for the world....it was worth all the
crazy hours and hectic unpacking to spend Christmas with friends and family around the table and in front of the fire. Ya see, that's the picture I had in my head LAST year around this time. I kept telling my pets - 'WAIT 'til you see this HOUSE we're moving into...you're gonna LOVE the back yard. We're going to fill the place with love and entertain all the time'. They never doubted me.
So - go ahead. Close your eyes. Make a picture in your head. Put youself in that picture and FEEL what it FEELS like to be there and loving the scene. That's what I wish for you this New Year.
Thanks - for being here - and for being part of the WHUD family for the past...well, you know how long. We are rich in fun and friendship.
Much Love and Every Good Wish for Our New Year,
Peace on Earth.

The Circle of Life
November 20, 2006, 10:04 am
From the day we arrive on the planet and blinking step into the sun -
There is more to see than can ever be seen. more to do than can ever be done -
There is far too much to take in here. more to find than can ever be found -
But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky keeps great and small on the endless round...
- Tim Rice, Elton John
Finally! I saw the Lion King on Broadway....it is everything you would imagine and more. If you haven't seen it - Go...if you can make the time.
Yes - it's a busy time....OK - I get it now - It's ALWAYS a busy time.
I keep waiting for things to slow down...they don't. You have to be your own traffic cop and STOP
every now and then, to recharge.
And I will - as soon as my play is over! I've been touring with M&M Production's presentation of Sylvia by A.R. Gurney. There's this guy, and his wife, and the dog the guy adopts...and I play everybody else.
It's very fun. See it November 28 at 8 PM at the Van Cortllandtville School on Route 6 in a Paws for Love benefit. Or, catch it December 2 at the Nyack Library and December 3 at the White Plains Library at 2 PM.
Thanksgiving will find me serving, for the 3rd year, at the Peekskill Area Pastor's Association Community Dinner. This will be my final year serving. I feel guilty taking the spot of someone else who could have this life changing experience. For those of you who KNOW - I'm sorry it took me so long to find out. For those of you who have a routine holiday planned - here's a little nudge to try something different. There will still be plenty of time for 32 screaming Italian cousins and dishes piled to the ceiling - or at least that's what my Turkey (and lasagna and bracciole) Day looks like.
We recently had Suzyn Waldman on the air - she is starring in the holiday show at the Westchester Broadway Theatre - yes the female co host of NY Yankees radio is - and was - a Broadway enterainer!
She was so inspiring to talk to talk to! The lady has such positive energy, you feel better for having spent a few minites with her. I'm making my reservations today to see her onstage in Christmas Inn.
And then - I am going to California to meet my boyfriend's brother and his friend Slash.
When I get back I am going to move into my dream house - the one with the big back yard for my pets...and the little fire place for me and Mike. Yes - The Man of My Dreams is ALSO named Mike - how lucky can I get?
THEN - I am going to relax and enjoy some quite time....
I mean it!
As Elton and Tim would sing -
There's a calm surrender to the rush of day, when the heat of the rolling world can be turned away.
An enchanted moment and it sees me through. It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you.
With Thanksgiving for the time I spend with you each morning -
Love.

"...The batter swings and the summer flies
As I look into my angel's eyes
A song plays on as the moon is hiding over me
Something comes over me.
I guess we're big and I guess we're small
If you think about it man, you know we got it all
'Cause we're all we got on this boucing ball
And I love you free -
I love you free -ly.
Here's a riddle for you
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I..."
The Riddle - Five For Fighting.
Here's hoping you're loving all the summer brought you...
And looking forward to glorious new adventures...
See you soon....

Hello My Busy Friends....
It's been some life lately! - Running here and there - meeting wonderful people.
I met some of your amazing kids during my school visits this spring. The students at Childside at Putnam Valley Elementary taught me to "give my brain a kiss" when I get something right. So if you see me kissing my hand and smacking myself in the head - that means I just remembered something!
And speaking of memories....The fashion show put on by the therapists and practicioners at Children's Rehabilitiation Center in White Plains was a beautiful event. These woman, who work so hard with very special children, had an evening to strut their stuff and raise some money for their beloved Karate project.
Mamaplaooza - with Terry Platz and Motherlode Trio! There are no words - it was a perfect day of music, food, family and fun at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. Be there next year!
Oh! The Dogswalk Against Cancer - that was another great day at Bear Mountain State Park. Berto enjoyed the day with near a thousand other pups and their oustanding humans.
There have been so many wonderful days and nights ...I am grateful for the many places WHUD takes me. I thank God for the gift of living life out loud with you in Westchester and The Hudson Valley.
For the summer - I hope to rest a little...there are a pile of books on my nightstand that want to be in my lap under a tree...
But First!
Come to the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel July 13 - 16 in Verplanck - with Italian-American Idol II on Saturday, the 15th at 7 PM. Want to sing an Italian song - or a song made popular by an Italian-American artist? From Madonna to Sinatra or O Sole Mio - we'll hear it all - out in the street - at the corner of 8th and Highland in Verplanck. Join me there as we bring back the glory of an old fashioned Italian street fair. There'll be magic shows Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 PM. Sunday, after 11 AM mass, we process through the streets with the Madonna - the statue of Mary - that is! Join us for unforgettable experience. Fireworks - Sunday at 10:30 PM!
It's a great big parade - this life we share. Take some time to breathe it in and feel the flow...
Buona Festa -
Love,
Kacey
